Items returned to the library are isolated for three days before being checked-in. As a result, patrons may receive renewal/overdue notifications for items returned. Fines will not be charged for items returned on or before the due date.

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, in the Library’s Board Room. Attending the meeting were Trustees Chris Vaage, John Van Engelen, Cindy Bezas, Monica D’Angelo, Kyle Tarbet, Library Liaison Ruth Pierce. Library Director Tara Bartley and Staff Karolee Sorenson. Ty Tolley, Twin Falls High School student. Ty Tolley student with Twin Falls High School will be job shadowing for his senior project. Ty will be spending time in each department to learn how libraries function and what they offer. Chairman Chris Vaage called the meeting to order at 4:33 pm with brief introductions. Motion was made to approve the agenda for September 12, 2018 meeting. John Van Engelen motioned to approve the agenda; Monica D’Angelo 2nd the motion. The Trustees MSC approval of the August 8, 2018 minutes. Cindy Bezas motioned to approve the minutes; John Van Engelen 2nd the motion.

Approval of Financial Statements The Trustees MSC the approval of the August 2018 bills. John Van Engelen made the motion to approve last month’s bills, Kyle Tarbet 2nd the motion. Roll call vote taken. Approved 5-0. Financial/Statistical report: Review of the financial reports. John VanEngelen motioned to approve the financial statements for August 2018; Monica D’Angelo 2nd the motion. Roll call vote taken. Approved 5-0.

9/28 – Murder Mystery Night

10/3-10/05 – 2018 ILA Conference in Moscow, ID. CJ Rasmusson, Circulation Supervisor will be attending.

10/17-10/19 – Association of Outreach and Bookmobile Seminar in Raleigh, NC. Katie Johnson, Outreach Supervisor will be attending. ICL approved a grant of $900.00 for this seminar.

10/23-10/25 – Tara and Adam will be attending OCLC Regional Conference in Chicago, IL. The TFPL was asked to participate in a pilot program to address the demands and opportunities of technology advancement of libraries. TFPL was one of ten libraries in the United States invited to attend. Tara and Adam will bring back information to share with other Idaho libraries.

2018-2019 Let’s Talk About It began in September. This year’s theme is Humanity of Science & Technology. An application is submitted to ICFL for the program. We receive 25 books to lend. A speaker comes to the library to discuss the books.

Erica Littlefield and Katie Johnson will be attending My First Books at Morningside and Perrine Elementary Schools, beginning in October. The program is through ICFL and targets children from birth to kindergarten. The program provides a book a month for each child.

City Council

The 2018-2019 budget has been adopted.

Library Foundation

September 8, 2018 was the Scramble Fore Books at the Twin Falls Golf Club. Teams were full. 192 total sponsors. Foundation approved to cover the cost of Non Resident Educator cards for area teachers for check out of CSI Stem Kits. Educator cards are available from August to June 30th.

Finance & Budgeting

Finance committee met Tuesday September 4, 2018 in the library board room. Kyle Tarbet, John Van Engelen, Tara Bartley and Karolee Sorenson were present. Discussion regarding the new salary table and salary adjustments for 2018-2019. Committee recommend to approved the new salary table and adjustments for 2018-2019. Business Issues

Discussion on transfer of Richard Joshua paintings to CSI. The paintings were discussed with Ron Hicks of Profession Frame in Twin Falls. The paintings have no financial value but do have historical value. Cindy Bezas motioned to transfer the paintings to CSI. John Van Engelen 2nd the motion. Partnership with the CSI ISTEM Lending Library. We have 4 algebra bins and 11 bins with math and family science. Foundation will pay for one school year of Non Resident Educator card fees for educators.

Library Director

Tara will be giving a community presentation to Rotary, Tuesday the 18th at 7:00 am on services the Library offers. Tara and Katie will visit Valley Vista on 9/26. The Library will be offering new databases. Law Depot/Comic and Graphic Novels/A to Z World Travel/Creative Bug. The Board requested further information regarding the liability to the library on offering the data base Law Depot. Your Special Smile Update – Kyle contacted Dr. Book regarding her request to set up at the library one day a month to offer dental services. The Board decided the library was not the place for this type of service and suggested she contact other facilities better equipped for dentistry.
